Why wait?
You have dreamed with your own private resort at home! Now is the time to take the next step. From the initial drawing up to filling up the pool with water, cooperating with AUALUX is as easy as a sea breeze.
We know that the construction of properties are famous for big delays and for the increase of prices in comparisson to the initial estimate. Don't expect that from AQUALUX. We promise to give you a proposition easy to understand, with a fixed price and a clear conclusion time, to finish the job. Statistics reveal that 98% of our projects are concluded on the time agreed and within a pre-determined budget.
In a few seconds, read the comments from our clients and you will know what you can expect from us. Also with us you can explore and think of different constructive options or accessories, which are only available with us.

We simplify!
From the initial contact, to the design, construction and project managment, AQUALUX is totally dedicated in turning your experience into something to remmember. A very important aspect is that we have a project manager for each project that will always be available for you to clearify any doubts. Most pools take between 4-6 weeks to be concluded, but for your specific case, you will be givin a break-down of each stage of your project to conclusion. Your project manager will always be present to assure that you are perfectly informed and totaly satisfied.

This is what you can expect once you have contracted our company.

1. One of our expert designers will visit you at your home.
We’ll gather information about what you want to accomplish. What do you want the space to look like? How will the pool be used? Then we’ll measure the yard, consider the location for sunlight and usability, and make sure that you understand all of the available options. In this initial consultation, we listen carefully so that we can seamlessly incorporate your dreams and your vision into an elegant and functional backyard oasis.

2. Within two weeks, your custom design will be completed and ready for review.
Using a specific software, you’ll actually be able to see what your new pool will look like. You’ll also be able to discuss and decide on further options, details, and features.

3. Once you decide to move forward, we can immediately begin to schedule the building phase of your new pool.
Our representatives will schedule a “pre-construction meeting” with you so that you know exactly what to expect over the next few months.

4. We will begin to engineer your custom pool with meticulous detail.
We will start by grading and excavating, or digging out the site. After the site has been excavated, we will do the pool's outside structure with cement blocks. In the bottom a layer of concrete will be done to have a support and starting level inisde the pool, then install the reinforncing steel, or rebar. Then all of the plumbing and electrical work.

5. Your pool will be sprayed with a concrete-like substance known as gunite, this takes 1 day.
After sometime for the concrte to cure, or dry. After the gunite has cured, we will render, install the coping stone and the interior finish.

6. We will complete all of the masonry work.
If you have chosen to include features like custom walls, rock features, waterfalls, a bar-b-que or a fireplace, they will be built or installed during this phase of construction.

7. The deck of your pool will be installed by our people.
The deck area is a very important part of the pool. Normally we recommend deck's with a good area, enough to place loungers, tables, chairs...The deck can be done in terrace tiles or a organic type wood. This organic wood is new and results of a combination of recicled wood and thermoplastic, which doesn't need any maintenance, does not rott and the result is spectacular.

8. Finally, your pool will be finished with tiles or plastered with Pebble shape.
If you choose to do the Pebble shape finish, the application is done in 1 day. The big advantage with this product is the extraordinary overall finish, diversity in colours, durability and no joints. If you choose the traditional tiles, this application takes about 3 days. You can also select a variety of colours.

9. Fill your new pool with water!
When the plaster phase is complete, your pool will finally be ready to be filled with water. Now it's time to call your friends and family so you can have a pool party to celebrate!

Designs and accessories have changed throughout the years since the first pool that we built.
Nowadays AQUALUX has a wide range of constructive options such as shapes/sizes and exciting acessories.

Traditional pools are normally rectangular and in the sizes of 8m x 4m, 10m x 5m, 12m x 6m (length x width) and 1m x 2m (deep). The selection of the steps vary, depending essencialy on the design of the property. Due to Portuguese architecture, customers tend to select the roman end (half circle), but can also be done whichever way you wish. Normally, we install the steps at the deep end of the pool, a stainless steel ladder. An efficient filtering system needs technical knowledge on behalf of the specialist. The filtering process is the following; the water is pulled from the skimmer and sent back into the pool through the jets. The interior of these pools can be finished in natural stone “Pebble Shape” or mosaics. Ideal for who wants a traditional pool. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; spas, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, electric pool covers and automatic hoovers.

Caracterized by the possibility of being constructed in irregular forms, many property owners are selecting this type of pool, because it gives them total liberty of expression, such as shapes and audacious sizes, anything is possible. Be creative! This type of pool requires a completely different combination of specifications and techniques, compared to traditional pools. By being a freeform pool, they can be constructed with the same technique as used for Infinity pools or Overflow edge pools, giving them a similar look where the water overflows into a gutter or a tank. Some clients choose to incorporate a “ rest area”.

The filtering process must be studied and selected for each case, in order to select the best and most efficient method depending on pool confirguration.

Being an irregular shaped pool, normally the interior finish is done in natural stone “Pebble Shape”, having no corner joints this finish adapts better esthetically to these pools, but can also be done in mosaics. Ideal for someone who wishes to have a pool with their own personal touch. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; spas, waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, manual pool covers (in some cases electric covers) and automatic hoovers.

Infinity pools are fenomenal for their extreme ellegance and more and more solicitated by property owners. These pools can be done in any shape or size. The construting principle is much more elaborate and complex than any other, using very demanding specifications and techniques. True art-work, which results in a combination of engineering and esthetics. They are designed so that the water can reach a determined maximum level and then overflow into a gutter. Seperate from the pool a compensation tank must be built to receive the water that comes from the gutter, then a pump will pull the water from the compensation tank, sending the water back into the pool. An elaborate system will allow the water to overflow totally creating a beautifull look. The filtering equipment must be defined with extreme precision in order to creat the overflow effect. The interior is normally done with natural stones “Pebble Shape”, but mosaics are also an option. Ideal for someone who wants to have an extremely elegant pool. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; spas, waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, electric pool covers and automatic hoovers.

A lso know as “Waterfall edge pools”, these are more and more solicitated from property owners for their beauty and surrounding area. The construction principle is similar to a “Infinity pool”, but the operating principle is a bit different. With this type of pool, when the water reaches it's maximum level, instead of overflowing into a gutter, the water overflows into a small tank which is normally part of the pool structure. Instead of overflowing around the pool like the Infinity pools, the overflow edge pool normally overflows on one or two sides of the pool into a small tank, then pulled from filtering system and sent back to pool through the jets. The filtering equipment must be defined with extreme precision in order to creat the overflow effect. The interior is normally done with natural stones “Pebble Shape”, but mosaics are also an option. Ideal for someone who wants to construct a pool on a cliff type. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; spas, waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, electric pool covers and automatic hoovers.

Pools with a Spa are a recent innovation and are alwready one of the most requested by property owner, for the fact of providing 2 in 1, or better, the relaxing combination of a pool and a spa. The pool or spa can both be construted in any shape or size, meaning the pool doesn't have to be square and the spa round which is normally the general idea. The pool and spa require a sigular combination of specifications and techniques. Traditionally the spa is constructed 50cm higher than the pool level, so that when spa is running it will overflow into pool, creating a waterfall, but if required spa can be constructed at the same level as pool. To ceate that 2 in 1 effect, it is necessary to have a vigorous knowledge of all tehcnical aspects which are very important, especially with the filtering system in order to provide the desired effect. Both pool and spa can be done with natural stones “Pebble Shape”, but mosaics are also an option. Ideal for someone who wants to either relax in the spa or in the pool, you choose! The accessories mostly used for these pools are; waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, electric pool covers and automatic hoovers.

Historically the pool access has been done the same way; with three of four small steps in the shallow end of the pool. Nowadays many home owners are having pools done with a more natural entry, similar to a beach entry. This entry to the pool has a very smooth slope, just like the shore of the beach. It creats a sensasation that the water level is at the terrace/deck level but then gradually as you walk into the pool the deeper it gets. In some cases people choose to have resting area, which normally is about 50cm below water level and this allows people to be in the pool without being completely underwater.
The interior is normally done with natural stones “Pebble Shape”, but mosaics are also an option. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; spas, waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, electric pool covers and automatic hoovers.

Hotel and condominium pools are considered “Commercial” because they are designed freely without any specific form. To elaborate a project of this kind, it is fundamental to recur to an exhaustive study for the structure. Very important is the detailed analysis on the terrain and the impact/pressure that people will provoke when the pool is full of people and water. The higher pressure areas must be located and reinforeced or modified. As for the desing, this depends on many factors (hotel classification; purpose of pool; number of people; hotel design; etc...). The filtering equipment must respect the recommended european legislation in order to guarantee a perfectly disinfected water. Givin all of this, we can confirm that these pools require a high standard combination of techniques and specifications. As in any other pool, the interior finish can be done in natural stones “Pebble Shape”, but mosaics are also an option. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; diving boards, spas, waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems ou U.V., heating systems and automatic hoovers.

Athletic swimming pools come from an innovating concept of pool utilization. As well as a place for recreation these authentic long and thin swimming pools are excellent for whoever wants do increase swimming skills, resistance and strength. These pools are caracterized on being very long and narrow (15m x 3m) and can operate using the normal process through skimmers or overflow totally (Infinity pool). The filtering system will depend on the typo of pool. the interior finish can be done in natural stones “Pebble Shape”, but mosaics are also an option. The accessories mostly used for these pools are; spas, waterfalls, electrolysis salt systems, heat pumps, electric pool covers and automatic hoovers.

Our attention to detail is one of the things that sets us apart from other pool builders. Times are changing! Taste as well. Spas that overflow into pools are a must requisition. In some cases there are waterfalls that oveflow into pools, that come simply from decorative rocks or a wall. Slides are great fun for adults and children. You can also consider the construction of a elevated resting area in the pool to enjoy extended bathing time without being totaly submerged in water. You can also surround your pool with natural stones to provide a more natural look. These minor details will help transform your pool and garden into something truly unique.

Your pool can simply be a leisure area with no big hassel envolved. Dont worry, you dont have to waste your time cleaning your pool or balancing the water quality, because with today's technologie and accessible prices, these systems can automatically manage your pool leaving very little work for you. No doubt that maintaining a pool is much easier than maintaining a automobile. At AQUALUX you can always count on the best equipment, leaders in quality.
